Dental Cleaning

Dental Cleaning at Diestel Dental Group, Hong Kong

A professional clean and polish with our dental hygienists to remove plaque, tartar and surface stains and keep your gums healthy.

What it is

A routine hygiene visit (scaling and polishing) that removes the hardened plaque, or tartar, and stains that daily brushing cannot reach — especially along the gumline. Most appointments take about 45–60 minutes.

The procedure

Our hygienists combine ultrasonic scaling with hand instruments to clean above and below the gumline, then polish and floss. They will also point out any areas where your home care could be more effective.

Who it is for

Recommended for most people about every six months. If you have gum inflammation, bleeding gums or a build-up of tartar, more frequent cleaning may be advised.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I have my teeth cleaned?
For most people, about every six months. Your dentist or hygienist may suggest a shorter interval if you are prone to gum disease or tartar build-up.
Does a dental cleaning hurt?
It is usually comfortable. If your gums are sensitive or inflamed, let your hygienist know and they can adjust their technique.
Will cleaning whiten my teeth?
Cleaning removes surface stains and can make teeth look brighter, but it does not change the natural shade of your teeth. For that, ask about teeth whitening.

Care for this treatment is available across our five Hong Kong clinics.
